In-Depth Credit Card Review:

Estimate Reward Earnings  Compare CardsApply Now
Frequent flier credit cards can be an excellent travel asset, but only if you have the card that gives you access to the airlines that you really use. If you frequently fly with Alaska Airlines or Horizon Air, then FIA Card Services, N.A. has the right card for you. With their Alaska Airlines Visa Signature® Credit Card, you can get great rewards simply for using the airlines you already love, and put your earnings toward your next vacation.

When you use this card, you will always be earning your way to your next trip, no matter what you're buying or where you're buying it. Just for making purchases with this credit card, you will automatically earn one mile for every dollar you spend. You can also double your earnings when you use your credit card with Alaska Airlines or Horizon air, earning two miles to each dollar. You can even earn up to five miles for every dollar that you spend at participating restaurants.

But you don't have go on a shopping spree before you start to see your miles add up. Just for applying for this card and being approved, you will be given 20,000 bonus miles, to get you closer to your next trip faster. If you apply online, you will also receive an additional 1,000 bonus miles, and you will be credited another 2,000 miles each year thereafter upon renewal.

There is no yearly limit on the miles that you can earn while using this card, and as long as there is activity on your account at least once every three years, your miles will stay good. Your miles can be redeemed with ten different airline partners, and award travel can begin at 20,000 miles.

As if that isn't enough, cardholders will receive a $50 round-trip companion ticket upon approval, and continue to receive one every year after on the date of approval. You will also receive two Alaska Airlines board room passes, to be used at select airports in Seattle, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Portland and Anchorage.

The interest rate that this card offers for purchases and balance transfer is reasonable for a reward card, but less than ideal if you plan on carrying a balance. The annual fee is slightly steep, but relatively normal when compared to other signature airline rewards cards. This card offers auto rental insurance, travel and emergency assistance services, and purchase protection, as well as online banking.
